Maya Rudolph | Daughter of Minnie Riperton and Richard Rudolph

Dedicating a song – or at least a portion of it – to someone can be a great way to show just how much you care for them. Well, the same can be said for Maya Rudolph and her parents, the singer-songwriter Minnie Riperton and composer Richard Rudolph. Before she even made her way to the entertainment industry, Maya was already introduced to the world, thanks to Minnie’s song Lovin’ You.

A university graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in photography, Maya began her career as a member of the improv troupe, the Groundlings. She also had a brief stint in the music scene as a backing singer and pianist for a band called The Rentals before she finally joined Saturday Night Live. Since then, she has worked on other projects, including the Grown Ups movies, The Mitchells vs. the Machines, Big Hero 6, Big Mouth, and Life of the Party.
