Spike Jonze | Son of Sandra Granzow and Arthur H. Spiegel III
Like many journeys, a career in the spotlight has to start somewhere. For Spike Jonze, this was during his childhood. Born Adam Spiegel, Spike had quite a fondness for BMX riding and would photograph other riders and skateboarders. Well, as it turns out, this hobby eventually became an investment that brought him to the spotlight.
After a while, Spike’s photos eventually found their way on magazines such as Transworld Skateboarding and Freestylin’ Magazine. With that said, he eventually added filmmaker to his skill set. Along with his skateboarding movie, Video Days, Spike also had the chance to direct music videos for artists such as Daft Punk, Weezer, Beastie Boys, and REM. Nowadays, though, he has achieved international recognition for his award-winning films. This includes Being John Malkovich and Her, the latter winning him an Academy Award and the Writers Guild of America for Best Original Screenplay.
