Barbi Benton and George Gradow

Country music emerged in the 1920s, influenced by folk and blues music. Several television shows focused on the genre, but Hee Haw was doing it long before it was even a thing. The show featured comedy skits and a heavy emphasis on country music, and Barbi Benton conquered it all. She dominated the 1970s as she forged her degree in Hollywood, thanks to her performance in both worlds.

Benton rose to prominence due to her satirical acting roles in the show’s numerous comedy sketches. After becoming a household name, the young actress received acting offers, including her first film role. Aside from her career success, she also found luck with George Gradow. He had fallen in love with her from seeing her on television. Fortunately for Gradow, his friend’s mother knew Benton’s mother and set up a date for the two – and, as they claim, the rest is history!
